Many reports have been shown that our shelters are being overwhelmed with more people than they can either accommodate or place in alternative locations. Therefore, many families, especially with younger children are forced to be split apart. Studies have also shown that this plan not only affects familoy members individually, but the entire family as a whole. When children are not able to be placed in a stable environment it can make it very difficult for them to achieve steady and effective education. This situation can hinder the parents ability to continue create a bond with the children. This unfortuanate mishap has been shown to add to the deterioration of the family unit. This type of separation and lifestyle creates emotional, mental, and social problems for both children and adults.
"Home Away From Home" is a transitional facility that will enable families to transition from a homeless situation to a safe home as a unit. "Home Away From Home" will not only afford many families an opportunity to be transitioned together, but will enable the family members to continue with their training and assessments to equip them with the abilities and knowledge to achieve valuable employment.
